NC leader provides Rs 51,000 to a couple whose maize cart was seized by city police

KATHMANDU: Congress leader Mohan Bahadur Basnet has donated money to a couple whose cart was seized by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City while they were selling maize in Baluwatar, Kathmandu.

On Sunday, Chetendra Acharya of Melamchi-10 in Sindhupalchowk was given Rs. 51,000 by two Sindhupalchowk leaders, including Basnet.

Basnet stated that the municipality helped him when they found out that there was a problem in paying the rent and educating the children after the municipality snatched the cart. He proposed conducting business in such a way that there would be no problems with cart movement or general public movement.

Similarly, Chetendra Acharya complained that his cart was picked up while trading in a place where no one was disturbed.

The video of municipality police seizing his vehicle while he was burning maize on the side of the road at chowk, 200 meters north of the PM’s residence in Baluwatar, went viral on social media.
