Meeting of Finance & Development Committee of Gandaki postponed
Koirala stated that the meeting scheduled for 1 p.m. was postponed because the members did not arrive until 2 p.m.
POKHARA: The Gandaki Finance and Development Committee meeting has been postponed due to the absence of all MPs and ministers except the chairperson.
On Thursday, no committee member attended the meeting called by committee president Deepak Koirala. The committee has six ministers, six UML MPs and two UCPN-M MPs. However, no one attended the meeting.
Koirala stated that the meeting scheduled for 1 p.m. was postponed because the members did not arrive until 2 p.m.
‘I waited an hour. ‘No one arrived,’ he said, adding that a ‘wrong message may have been sent.’ The committee called a meeting to discuss the current legislative impasse. Parliament has been adjourned following the presentation of the budget on June 15.
The committee has also called a meeting with the finance minister to investigate the reasons for the parliament’s non-functioning and to provide guidance for the house’s quick operation.
However, the UML has informed its MPs that they will be absent from the meeting as the budget is being discussed in the parliamentary committee.
