660 customs agents selected after 22 years
For the first time in 22 years, they have been appointed as a customs agent.
KATHMANDU: The Public Service Commission has made the final results of the customs agents public. The commission has chosen 660 people to be customs agents.
The examination of the customs agent, which had been postponed several times, finally took place on April 30. The examination of 660 customs agents took place on April 30 after the Election Commission agreed to publish the results after the deadline for implementing the Election Code of Conduct had passed.
For the first time in 22 years, they have been appointed as a customs agent. Since the appointment of 56 agents in 2057 BS, no agents have been appointed. So far, the government has appointed 481 customs agents.
However, approximately two-thirds of the agents are inactive. When customs agents were not appointed for an extended period of time and the majority of them were inactive, problems in international trade arose.
Officially designated customs agents will be able to declare goods at customs on behalf of the importer and exporter of goods to be imported and exported. Customs officers will be able to charge a fee for this service.
