SC directed that Nijgadh Airport be built as far as possible
According to the Supreme Court's order, the airport's construction can now begin with additional environmental studies.
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has directed the government to proceed with the construction of Nijgadh Airport while conducting additional research to ensure that the forest area is not degraded as much as possible.
Advocate Prakash Mani Sharma and seven others had petitioned the Supreme Court to stop the airport’s construction in the forest area. While hearing the writ petition, the court issued the order in the name of the government.
A 123-page order issued by a full bench of Justices Hari Krishna Karki, Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha, Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, Prakash Man Singh Raut, and Manoj Kumar Karna cleared the way for the construction of Nijgadh Airport.
