Voter registration can now be done from home
Shaligram Sharma Poudel, a spokesperson for the Commission, stated that the voter list can be registered online within the next 10 days.
KATHMANDU: If you live outside your home district and are concerned about your name not appearing on the voter list, don’t be.
The inconvenience of voters having to go to their own district to register their names on the voters’ roll has been solved, and it is now possible to register online. The Election Commission, which began registering voters’ names on June 15, has made arrangements for people to fill out the information from home.
It will take a few days to get such a service online. The obligation to go to the District Election Office, District Administration Office, and Area Administration Office to register and update the voter list will end once the Election Commission provides such a facility. The Commission has already prepared the necessary software. Pre-listing is nearing completion.
Shaligram Sharma Poudel, a spokesperson for the Commission, stated that the voter list can be registered online within the next 10 days. The Biometric Voters Registration System is currently used for registration (BVRS). The commission has stated that the system will be upgraded. With the release of the software, the workload associated with enrollment in the relevant offices will be reduced by 70%.
The software is intended to protect your mobile information. The number will be made available on the person’s mobile after uploading the documents with details. The concerned election office will take biometrics, verify, and register the name based on that number. The commission has spent around Rs 1.7 million for the software.
