Nepal-India border in east Nepal sealed for three days
The sealed checkpoint will reopen on Monday at 6 a.m.
KATHMANDU: Since this morning, the Nepal-India border has been closed for 72 hours.
The border has been sealed since this morning, according to Chief District Officer Chhabilal Rijal, in preparation for the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) elections, which will be held in Darjeeling on Sunday.
He stated that after correspondence from the Indian side, the border checkpoints at Pashupatinagar in Ilam and Kakarbhitta and Bhadrapur in Jhapa and West Bengal were sealed.
According to him, the sealed checkpoint will reopen on Monday at 6 a.m. He stated that if sick, helpless, and disabled people must cross the border, they will do so in coordination with security agencies on both sides.
Elections will also be held in the constituencies of Mirik, Kharsang, and Siliguri, in addition to Darjeeling.
