Directions of Women & Social Committees to parties: Prioritize women’s participation first
The committee meeting on Friday concluded that the political parties ignored the participation of women.
KATHMANDU: The Women and Social Affairs Committee of the Parliament concluded that women’s participation has decreased as political parties did not prioritize women’s participation in the recent local elections.
The committee meeting on Friday concluded that the political parties ignored the participation of women. As a result, women’s participation rate has decreased.
The committee has stated that if the parties ignore their responsibility to increase women’s participation by exercising their constitutional rights, not only will the rate of women’s participation decrease, but the implementation of the constitution will be challenged. “This has resulted in the contraction of women’s rights,” said Niru Devi Pal, the president of the committee member.
The committee has also caught the eye of relevant bodies, parties, and leaders.
