Woman killed in bus crash in Kanchanpur, highway blocked

KATHMANDU: A woman was killed when a bus collided with her on the Bhashi-Suda section of the East-West Highway in Kanchanpur district on Wednesday morning.

According to the Kanchanpur District Police Office, Bimaladevi Joshi, 30, of Shuklaphanta Municipality-6, died when a bus (Na 4 Kha 8077) heading from Mahendranagar to Bardiya collided with her.

According to police, Joshi died as a result of her injuries while being treated at Mahakali State Hospital.

Following the accident, outraged locals blocked the highway. The local government is attempting to reopen the highway.

Lal Bahadur Balme, Inspector at the District Police Office in Kanchanpur, stated that the bus and its driver had been arrested by police.
