Niharika ended her hunger strike after reaching a five-point agreement
KATHMANDU: Sonali Kumari Singh (Niharika) of Jaleshwor Municipality-9, who has been on a hunger strike since June 10 in order to demand justice, has ended her fast. She ended her hunger strike after reaching a five-point agreement with the government.
Niharika broke her hunger strike after sipping juice from the hands of Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand after reaching an agreement with government representatives at the initiative of Krishna Poudel Khatiwada, a member of the National Commission for Women.
Defendant Shivaram Shrestha and Niharika’s son to take legal initiative for DNA testing, to take initiative through Home Ministry for financial support of the hunger striker, to take initiative through the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Women and Children and Senior Citizens for safe housing management of the hunger striker and her son. The two sides have agreed to take initiative to make it.
Home Ministry Joint Secretary Shivaram Pokhrel, Deputy Secretary Basanta Bhattarai, hunger striker Niharika, Sabitri Subedi, Sunita Gautam, and Logshari Kunwar signed the MoU.
The accused was ordered to be brought before the Janakpur High Court on Thursday.
