KATHMANDU: It has been revealed that the Nepal Army has written a letter to the US Embassy requesting to participate in the US State Partnership Program (SPP).
The letter, written in 2015, stated that it was fortunate for Nepal that the army was allowed to participate in the SPP.
The letter, written by then-Nepal Army Commander Rajendra Chhetri to then-US Ambassador Alaina B. Teplitz, states that Nepal’s participation in the SPP will result in an exchange of military skills and experience, disaster preparedness, infrastructure construction, and partnership in natural resources and development.
“This program will strengthen our long-standing ties as well as bilateral security ties, as well as enhance military capabilities, experience, and security knowledge,” according to the letter.
