Seven Africans arrested with heroin worth Rs 1.2 billion
Seven African nationals were arrested during the Drug Control Bureau's seven-day investigation and monitoring at Tribhuvan Airport and other locations in Kathmandu.
KATHMANDU: Seven African nationals were nabbed, along with 51 kilograms of brown and white heroin.
According to Superintendent of Police Jeevan Kumar Shrestha, seven African nationals were arrested during the Drug Control Bureau’s seven-day investigation and monitoring at Tribhuvan Airport and other locations in Kathmandu.
Sabisi Thandike, 29, and Muril Kudyuzki Thimbeni, 46, were among those arrested. On June 12, they arrived in Kathmandu via Fly Dubai. They were nabbed by police from a hotel in Thamel. According to police, they recovered 16 kg of white heroin.
Similarly, Thabalala Khyanisele, 46, who landed in Kathmandu on June 13 from a Fly Dubai flight, has been arrested from a hotel in Thamel. She was found with eight kilograms of white heroin. Similarly, Rasiha Naenkli, who arrived in Kathmandu on the same day from Fly Dubai, was nabbed with 8 kg of heroin from a Thamel hotel.
Similarly, Marin Mathiba, who arrived in Kathmandu on June 9 from Fly Dubai, was arrested from a Thamel hotel with 7 kg of white heroin, according to police.
Suzen Kaefu, who arrived in Kathmandu on a Qatar Airways flight on June 14, was apprehended with 4 kg of white heroin and 4 kg of brown heroin. Similarly, Marlise Bedegaharst, who arrived in Kathmandu on the same day from Fly Dubai, was nabbed in Thamel with 6 kg of white heroin, according to Superintendent of Police Shrestha.
He stated that an investigation has been started up against them in accordance with the Narcotics (Control) Act 2033 BS.
Earlier, women from South Africa were repeatedly arrested with drugs.
