The UML has boycotted the meeting, stating that it will not hear the Finance Minister's response in the House.
KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN (UML) has boycotted the House of Representatives meeting.
The UML has boycotted the meeting, stating that it will not hear the Finance Minister’s response in the House.
Finance Minister Sharma responded to a question raised by his ministry during a meeting on Thursday. He stated that the tax rate was decided after much deliberation.
He also stated that there are procedures in place for changing revenue rates, and it is the practice of the committee comprised of the concerned department heads and secretaries to do so. In response to the UML’s obstruction, Finance Minister Sharma stated that he would accept responsibility for any treasonous act committed during the budget preparation process.
Following the Finance Minister’s response, UML Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai stated that he would not listen to the Minister’s response. He claimed that an investigation committee had not been formed despite his request to the speaker to search for CCTV footage from the day in question.
In addition, he accused Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota of failing to maintain parliamentary dignity.
