The SPP is being widely criticized for reaching an understanding between the US and Nepalese military forces.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has stated that the State Partnership Program (SPP) will not be taken forward immediately. After the ruling coalition parties, UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and UCPN (Maoist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal expressed interest in the issue, they did not move forward immediately.
The SPP is being widely criticized for reaching an understanding between the US and Nepalese military forces. After this, Chairperson Prachanda and Madhav Kumar Nepal had inquired about it with Prime Minister Deuba. This was stated by the then Prime Minister Deuba.
The agreement is expected to be signed during the Prime Minister’s visit to the United States. Earlier, US Army General Charles Anthony Flynn had handed over the MoU documents during his visit to Nepal. They were out after that. Prime Minister Deuba was also said to be positive. But now he is seen not moving forward immediately.
