KATHMANDU: During a House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, Minister for Drinking Water Uma Kanta Chaudhary stated that efforts are underway to find new sources of drinking water for sustainable management in Kathmandu Valley.

Speaking at today’s Parliament session, he stated that studies are being conducted to bring water to Kathmandu from the Sisneri River of Makwanpur, the Thosne River of Lalitpur, and the Mahadeu River of Bhaktapur.

He also stated that water would not be brought from Melamchi during the rainy season. The water has been cut off due to the risk of Melamchi (flood water) entering the tunnel. Minister Chaudhary stated that Melamchi water would be brought back to Kathmandu after the monsoon ended.
