UML demands to inform the House about Prime Minister Deuba’s US visit
He stated that the statement made by the ruling party's Chief Whip on the issue of national security sensitivities on June 9 had alarmed the opposition.
KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has demanded that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s visit to the United States be reported to the House.
At the start of Friday’s House of Representatives meeting, UML MP Surya Prasad Pathak announced that the Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff would be visiting the United States.
He stated that the statement made by the ruling party’s Chief Whip on the issue of national security sensitivities on June 9 had alarmed the opposition.
As the chief whip was expected to join the military alliance, he stated that the country was concerned about national independence, sovereignty, and geographical integrity. He demanded that the Speaker issue a ruling to the Prime Minister in the House on the issue.
In a House of Representatives meeting on June 9, Chief Whip of the UCPN (M) Dev Gurung demanded that the Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff visit the United States be postponed due to national security concerns.
Gurung stated that the situation is very sensitive right now and that the current foreign policy is shifting to military policy.
