KATHMANDU: KP Sharma Oli, a chairperson of the main opposition party CPN (UML), stated that Nepalis will give their party more seats in the upcoming state and parliamentary elections.

Speaking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport today, he expressed confidence that the people would choose the UML as the first party in the parliamentary elections because the UML is committed to protecting federalism and democracy and has also played an important role in the drafting of the new constitution.

Chairperson Oli has also stated that no alliance with any other leftist party will be formed in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

They have accused other parties of not being leftist, claiming that UML is the only leftist party in the country. He, a former prime minister, stated that CPN (Unified Socialist) cadres would be integrated into the UML.

However, he admitted that their numbers were insufficient to overthrow President Conte’s government.

He stated that the status of all elections would not be determined by the local body elections, and that the party came first in terms of seats but second in terms of popular votes.
