POKHARA: The Maoists have a majority in the District Coordination Committee Gorkha and there is a single candidate.

During the nomination registration on Wednesday, only candidates from the UCPN (Maoist) fielded candidates for the nine posts, including chief and deputy chief, according to Chief Election Officer Dinbandhu Baral.

According to him, the chief candidate is Mohan Bahadur Thapa, and the deputy chief candidate is Lila Pariyar. The second force in this equation is Congress. However, because the number of votes was so low, Congress did not run a candidate.

Shiva Prasad Regmi, Mohan Dhakal, Mohammad Hakimdin Miya, Ganga Bahadur VByalkoti, Pramina Ghale, Meera Uparkoti and Indira Devkota have been nominated as members. In Gorkha, which has 11 local levels, the Maoists have 15 votes while the Nepali Congress has only seven votes.

Since the Maoist candidate ran unopposed, no official victory has been declared. The election is set for June 12. The announcement will be made on June 12, according to Baral.
