KATHMANDU: Nepal has defeated Malaysia in the final match of ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers. Nepal defeated Malaysia by 26 runs in the match played on Thursday.

Following the target of 87 runs given by Nepal, Malaysia lost 4 wickets in 20 overs and scored only 61 runs. Dhanusri Muhunan was the top scorer for Malaysia with 28 runs while other batsmen could not score double figures. For Nepal, Kritika Marasini took two wickets and Manisha Upadhyay took one.

Earlier, Nepal won the toss and choose to bat first and scored 86 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Anjali Bishwakarma was the top scorer for Nepal with 33 runs while Aashma Pulami Magar scored 26 runs. Other Nepali players could not score in double digits.

At the same time, the possibility of Nepal being selected in the World Cup is over. Nepal has collected 6 points in 5 games with 3 wins and 2 losses.

The top-ranked team in the six-nation tournament will qualify for next year’s World Cup in South Africa. Along with Nepal, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thailand, Bhutan and Qatar are participating in the competition.
