Complaint at CIAA alleging corruption in the embossed number plate

KATHMANDU: The National Youth Association of Nepal has filed a complaint with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), demanding that the irregularities in the embossed number plate be investigated.

The youth association has lodged a complaint with CIAA alleging that the company blacklisted by the World Bank has been given a contract to have an embossed number. The organization has demanded an investigation and action against the person responsible for the embossed number plate irregularity.

They also informed CIAA about the reasons for not including the Devanagari script on the embossed number plate, as well as the public pressure to keep the embossed number. Kiran Poudel, the chairperson of the youth association, stated that the embossed number plate contained political corruption and that it should be investigated.

He stated that the requirement for embossed number plates for security should not be imposed on the general public.  He said that the commission should investigate the fact of the embossed number plates.

Stating that the case has not been registered on the basis of any request or prejudice of the youth association, CIAA have also stated that the investigation should be done in an impartial manner.
