KATHMANDU: The East-West Highway will be closed for six hours at Chormara in Nawalparasi (east of Bardaghat-Sustapur) on Sunday.

Suman Ghimire, Chief District Officer, announced that the road would be closed to repair the Girubari River bridge.

He claims that the bridge will be repaired on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. According to Ghimire, regular maintenance work is being performed by closing the bridge due to the collapse in the middle.

The administration has also requested that the said section’s alternate road be used.

The old iron bridge in the Narayangad Butwal section of the East-West Highway has to be repaired during the expansion.

Along with the highway expansion, old iron bridges have been replaced and new concrete bridges have been constructed.
