Metropolitian & ministry to work together in waste management

KATHMANDU: Balen, Mayor of Kathmandu, and Ram Kumari Jhankri, Minister of Urban Development, have agreed to work collaboratively on waste management in the city and the ministry.

Minister for Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhankri stated that they are working on waste management in Kathmandu Valley and that waste will be managed scientifically in Banchare Danda.

She emphasized that, while Kathmandu’s waste management is done in the traditional manner in Banchare Danda, scientific waste management is required. She also stated that the ministry is always willing to collaborate with the metropolitian. She stated that cooperation was required because the ministry was constructing a utility corridor within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Shah stated that the ministry should provide assistance for garbage disposal at the Banchare Danda landfill site and requested that the ministry’s commitment in this regard be fully implemented. He also asked that locals be shown how to properly dispose of garbage in Kathmandu’s Garbage Banchare Danda.

Balendra Shah (Balen), the newly appointed Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol arrived at the Ministry of Urban Development on Wednesday to meet Minister Jhankri.
