KATHMANDU: The National Folk Instrument Museum, established in the year 2058 BS, reflects the diversity of Nepal’s musical and cultural sectors.

The museum, which has been collecting folk instruments since its beginnings, was initially located in Bhadrakali, Kathmandu. The museum was relocated to Tripureshwar in 2064 BS due to space constraints, and it remains there today.

In Nepal, there are 655 different types of folk instruments in use. The museum displays instruments used by Nepalese people of various castes and religions in every chronology from birth to death.

According to Ram Prasad Kandel, the museum’s director, the entry fee is 100 for Nepali tourists, 50 for students, and 1,000 for foreign tourists.
