Pokhara-Jomsom route: Where four major plane crashes took place
Before this, 7 years before today, in 2072 BS (2016), a Tara Air plane crashed on the same route.
KATHMANDU: MAY. 30 – At 10:07 a.m. on Sunday, a Tara Air plane crashed on the Pokhara-Jomsom route. Nineteen other passengers, including three crew members, were killed. However, this was not the first crash on this route before. There had been crashing on the route before.
Before this, 7 years before today, in 2072 BS (2016), a Tara Air plane crashed on the same route. Twenty-three people were killed in the plane crash on Falgun 12 (Feb 24).
Similarly, the Agni Air plane crashed on 2069 Jestha 1 (14 May 2012). Fifteen people were killed in a crash at a water tank near the airport. Similarly, 23 years ago today, in 2056 BS (1999), a Lumbini Air plane crashed on the same route. At that time, 18 people on board the plane were killed. The wreckage of the plane was found at a place called Narchyang in Myagdi.
Similarly, three years later, on 2059 BS Bhadra 3 (19 August 2002), a Shangri-La Air plane crashed in Pokhara on the same route. At that time, 18 people were killed. In August 2073 BS (August/September 2016), Tara Air’s plane skidded off the runway and fell at Kaligandaki. But there was no human casualty at that time.
There are also other planes that have crashed on the same route and surrounding areas. In 2019 BS (1962), a plane of Nepal Airlines Corporation crashed in Dhorpatan of Baglung district. At that time, 10 people had to lose their lives. In the same year, a Nepal Airlines plane crashed in Dhorpatan, killing six people.
