UML wins Garuda mayor, while NC wins deputy mayor

KATHMANDU: MAY. 26- The CPN-UML has won in Rautahat’s Garuda Municipality. Kanthamani Prasad Kalwar of the UML was elected mayor.
Kalwar defeated Brij Kishor Prasad Yadav of the CPN-S by 38 votes. He secured 4,564 votes, while Yadav polled 4,525 votes.
The Nepali Congress has been elected as the city’s deputy mayor. Poonam Kumari Chaudhary, a Congress candidate, defeated JSP candidate Bindu Kumari Devi by a margin of 2226 votes.
Chaudhary secured 6,703 votes, while Devi polled 4,477 votes.
Elected Chaudhary is the late journalist Manoj Chaudhary’s wife. Journalist Chaudhary died four months ago as a result of a COVID-19 infection.
