Kathmandu Update: Balen close to victory

KATHMANDU: MAY. 25 – Balendra Sah (Balen), an independent candidate for mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has got 54,000 votes. Balen received 54,739 votes in the most recent election results. At the same time, he is on the verge of victory.

There were 191,186 votes cast in Kathmandu. So far, approximately 167,000 votes have been counted, with approximately 24,000 votes still to be counted.

Sirjana Singh of the Nepali Congress, who is in second place, got 34,570 votes. Balen and Sirjana have a difference of 20,169 votes. Keshav Sthapit, the third-placed UML candidate, polled 33,921 votes. Wards 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 are currently being counted.

Similarly, the victory of CPN-UML candidate Sunita Dangol has been ensured. Her victory was assured as there were more differences from her rival.

With about 24,000 votes remaining to be counted, her lead is 40,000. She got 60,000 votes while her rival Rameshwar Shrestha got about 20,000 votes.
