KATHMANDU: MAY. 25 – Sunita Dangol of the CPN-UML is certain to win the Kathmandu Metropolitan election. Her victory was assured as there were more differences in votes with her rival.

Her lead is 40,000 votes with about 24,000 votes still to be counted. She received 60,000 votes, while her opponent, CPN-UML Rameshwar Shrestha, polled approximately 20,000 votes.

Balen Shah, an independent candidate, maintains a commanding lead in the mayoral race.

According to the most recent results, Shah secured 54,739 votes, while his opponent, Sirjana Singh, obtained 34,570 votes. The margin of victory between Shah and Singh is 20,169 votes. Keshav Sthapit, the third-placed UML candidate, polled 33,921 votes.
