KATHMANDU: MAY. 23 – Balendra Sah (Balen), an independent candidate for mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has secured 50,000 votes. Balen received 50,030 votes in the most recent election results.
He is 19,263 votes ahead of Nepali Congress candidate Sirjana Singh who is in second place. Sirjana polled 30,767 votes, while Keshav of the CPN-UML obtained 30,015 votes.
There were 191,55 votes cast in Kathmandu. So far, approximately 153,000 votes have been counted, with 37,700 votes still to be counted.
Sunita Dangol, a UML candidate, secured 52,809 votes for the post of deputy mayor.
Rameshwar Shrestha of the UCPN (Maoist) secured 17,884 votes, while RPP candidate Binita Magaiya polled 9,161 votes.
