Balen’s wide lead, Sunita exceed 50,000 votes

KATHMANDU: MAY. 24 – Balen Sah, the independent candidate for mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has maintained his lead with a large margin of votes. Balen has polled more than 49,000 votes after 145,003 votes have been counted.

Balen secured 49,358 votes, while Nepali Congress candidate Sirjana Singh obtained 30,069 votes, according to the most recent public poll results released this morning. Balen has 19,389 more votes than Sirjana.

Keshav Sthapit of the UML got 29,284 votes, while Madan Das Shrestha of the RPP secured 4,447 votes.

Sunita Dangol, a UML candidate, obtained 52,809 votes for the post of deputy mayor.

Rameshwar Shrestha of the UCPN (Maoist) polled 17,884 votes, while RPP candidate Binita Magaiya secured 9,161 votes.
