DHARAN: MAY. 22 – With approximately 3,000 votes still to be counted, independent candidate Harka Sampang’s victory in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan of Sunsari district has been confirmed.

Independent candidate Harka Raj Rai (Sampang) victory has been ensured for the post of mayor of the sub-metropolitian.

His victory is assured with 3,285 votes still to be counted in Dharan’s ongoing vote counting.

Even if Congress gets all of the votes by counting all of the remaining votes, his victory is assured. According to the Office of the Returning Officer, out of 62,898 votes cast, 59,613 votes are being counted.

Kishor Rai secured 15,316 votes, while Sampang polled 19,597 votes. Manju Bhandari Subedi, the CPN-UML candidate, got only 12,348 votes.

Aindra Bikram Begha of the UCPN-M obtained 19,283 votes for the post of deputy mayor of Dharan, while Padam Isbo Limbu of the CPN-UML secured 16,916 votes.
