NC wins in Ward No. 7, results of 14 wards made public

KATHMANDU: MAY. 22 – Bimal Kumar Hoda of the Nepali Congress has been elected Ward No. 7 Ward Chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Hoda won by 52 votes over CPN (UML) candidate Krishna Mani Bhattarai.

Hoda secured 2,867 votes, while Bhattarai of the UML secured 2,816 votes. Similarly, Nepali Congress Ujjwal Aryal and Suresh Shahi have been elected as members. Rupa Thapa of the Nepali Congress won the women’s category, while Kalpana Sundas of the Nepali Congress won the dalit women’s category.

So far, the results of Kathmandu Metropolitan Ward Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 and 32 have been made public. Similarly, counting of votes in ward nos. 9, 10, 11, 12, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 is in progress.

After counting one lakh six thousand 516 votes, independent candidate Balendra Shah secured 38,894 votes out of a total of one lakh 91 thousand 186 votes cast in Kathmandu. According to Kathmandu Assistant Election Officer Prem Prasad Poudyal, Keshav Sthapit of the CPN (UML) secured 20,965 votes, while Sirjana Singh of the Nepali Congress polled 21,538 votes.

Sunita Dangol, the UML’s deputy mayor candidate, has also maintained her lead. She got 38,351 votes, while CPN (Unified Socialist) candidate Rameshwar Shrestha secured 13,431 votes.
