POKHARA: MAY. 22 – CPN-UML leaders and cadres resigned after losing the election for Pokhara Metropolitan City 24 ward chairperson. Members have resigned, including ward committee officials.

Ward vice-chairperson Uttam Giri, as well as members Thaman Giri, Bal Bahadur Thapa, Parbati Giri, Pabitra Giri, and Deepak Puri, have resigned. In Kaskikot, the stronghold of the UML, only the Nepali Congress has won the election this time. Bharat Adhikari of the Nepali Congress defeated Ram Chandra Thapa of the UML in this contest.

The UML has concluded that it lost the election due to internal party strife. “We consider ourselves responsible for the irreparable damage done to the party by the defeat of the ward chairman candidate, and because we have not been able to preserve the glorious history of the party, we will resign from any post in the ward committee from today on,” the letter stated.
