NC leads in Byas, Deepak Raj trailing by 216 votes

KATHMANDU: MAY. 22 – Baikuntha Neupane, a Nepali Congress candidate, has taken the lead in Tanahun’s Byas Municipality.

Deepak Raj Joshi, an independent candidate, took the lead at first, but Neupane eventually increased his lead.

Deepak Raj, the son of former Nepali Congress leader Govinda Raj Joshi, is supported by the UML and is competing on his own.

With 24,387 votes cast, Congress candidate Neupane has a lead of 9,822 votes.

Deepak Raj is second with 9,606 votes. Deepak Raj is trailing Baikuntha Neupane by 216 votes.

There are still 5,876 votes to be counted.
