KATHMANDU: MAY. 19 – The results of the May 13 local elections are starting to trickle in. So far, the results of 552 municipalities have been made public out of a total of 753.

The term of all municipalities’ people’s representatives elected in 2074 BS expires tomorrow. On May 20, many municipalities will elect new representatives for a five-year term.

Meanwhile, the people’s representative in Kathmandu’s Gokarneshwor municipality has been chosen. Nepalis, including the mayor, have won 22 of the 47 seats in the municipality, UML, including the deputy mayor, has won 24, and independent candidates have won one.

The Nepali Congress completed its victory rally in the municipality today. Throughout the procession, both parties were courteous to one another.
