KATHMANDU: MAY. 18 – Balendra Shah (Balen), an independent mayoral candidate, has taken the lead in 14 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s 32 wards.

Competition is also taking place in the metropolitian other 18 wards. In seven wards, independent candidate Balen Shah, UML’s Keshav Sthapit, and Nepali Congress’s Sirjana Singh are competing; in seven wards, Singh and Sthapit are competing. Similarly, Singh and Balen’s rivalry continues in the remaining wards. Ward 19’s final outcome has yet to be announced.

Balen Shah has so far maintained his lead in 14 wards by consistently increasing the number of votes cast.
