UCPN (M) defeated in Prachanda’s constituency, UML’s Mahato won

KATHMANDU: MAY. 17 – The CPN-Maoist Central Committee Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s constituency, Madi Municipality, has been won by the UML.

This time UML’s Tara Kumari Kaji Mahato had won the mayoral post of Madi, which had previously been won by the Maoists.

Tara Kumari, who is also the outgoing deputy mayor, was elected mayor with 9,901 votes.

Rishi Ram Kafle of the UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee secured 7,729 votes from the nearest rival alliance.
