Congress wins Banke’s Rapti-Sonari chairperson and vice-chairperson

KATHMANDU: MAY. 17 – Nepali Congress candidate has won the post of chairperson and vice-chairperson of Rapti-Sonari Rural Municipality of Banke.

According to Election Officer Topendra KC, chairperson candidate Tapt Bahadur Poudel secured 10,112 votes, while vice-chairperson Manisha Singh Tharu secured 10,134 votes.

Poudel’s closest rival Pattu Tharu of the CPN-Maoist Center secured 9,292 votes, while Ram Das Tharu of the CPN-UML secured 9,140 votes.

Chameli Bagwal of the UML secured 9,341 votes, while Manju Rokaya of the UCPN (Maoist) secured 8,793 votes.

In that municipality, the CPN-UML won five wards, the RPP one, and the Maoist Center three.

According to Election Officer KC, the chairperson and vice-chairperson received approximately 7% of the votes cast in the constituency.
