Maoist’s second victory in Gorkha’s Sahid Lakhan

POKHARA: MAY. 16 – Maoist candidates have been elected again in Gorkha’s Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality.

Ramesh Babu Thapa Magar of the UCPN (M) got 5,474 votes, while Narayan Prasad Lamichhane of the Nepali Congress got only 4,432 votes.

Manoj Joshi of the UML got 4,117 votes, while Kalpana Thapa of JSP’s got 186 votes, Purna Bhandari of the RPP got 31 votes, and Sunu Rana of the Mongol National Organization got 20 votes.

Indira Tiwari of the UCPN (Maoist) also won the election with a huge margin for the post of vice-chairperson. When she won with 4,996 votes, her nearest rival Sharmila Shrestha of the Nepali Congress got 4,443 votes.

Luna Thapa of UML placed third with 3378 votes, while Manoj Shrestha of JSP got 901 votes. Previously, the same group of Maoists had been elected here.

Similarly, the UML won in one ward, while the UCPN (M) and Nepali Congress won in four.
