All ballot papers kept in closed room for counting will be counted: Thapaliya

BIRATNAGAR: MAY. 16 – Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said that ballot papers which were reached the place of counting votes after polling and the ballot papers kept in the closed room will be counted.

Chief Election Commissioner Thapaliya, who arrived in Biratnagar on Monday morning, urged to speed up the counting of votes.

He stated that all ballot boxes brought to the polling station would be counted, saying that the elections cannot be held by spending the resources of the state one by one

Thapaliya also directed that all votes be counted across the country, including Biratnagar, by May 19. Commissioner Thapaliya has arrived in Biratnagar to attend the Rangeli Municipality of Morang’s postponed polling station.

Rangeli Municipality’s vote counting has been postponed from Saturday night. On Saturday night, Nepali Congress leaders and cadres argued that the ballot box was open.

In Rangeli municipality, there is coordination between Congress and JSP. The commission stated that the delay in counting the votes already cast in the ballot box could not be avoided.

Chief Commissioner Thapaliya delegated management of the work, including staff and security, to Morang Chief District Officer Kashiraj Dahal. He urged Morang’s Chief Election Officer, Bharat Lamsal, to help him with this.
