BIRATNAGAR: MAY. 16 – Sanjay Kumar Tumbahamphe of the CPN-UML has been elected mayor of Terhathum’s Myanglung Municipality.

Tumbahamphe, who was elected mayor, got 5,117 votes. Only 4,478 votes were cast for the Congress candidate.

Jamuna Devi Subedi of the UML was also elected deputy mayor. She got 5,210 votes.

Parbati Sanu Dangi of the nearest rival Congress got 4,414 votes, according to Chief Election Officer Mahendra Prasad Pokhrel.

Sanjay Kumar, who was elected mayor, is the outgoing mayor. Dangi is the outgoing deputy chief and was defeated by UML.
