Tough competition in Bharatpur, Renu leads by 3 votes

KATHMANDU: MAY. 16 – There is fierce competition between the UCPN (Maoist) central candidate Renu Dahal and UML-RPP joint candidate Bijay Subedi for the post of mayor of Chitwan’s Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

Subedi, who was in the lead earlier, is now in second place. He trails Dahal by three votes.

Dahal has 3,578 votes out of 10,206 total votes counted, while Subedi has 3,575 votes.

Jagannath Poudel, a coalition rebel candidate, received 1,360 votes.

Chitrasen Adhikari of the Nepali Congress received 4,043 coalition votes, while Himmala received 2,816 votes from the UML.
