UML strongholds collapsed at Sangurigadhi & Chhathar Jorpati
NC wins in both municipalities.
KATHMANDU: MAY. 16 – Nepali Congress has won Sangurigadhi and Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality chairperson of Dhankuta.
Jitendra Rai of Nepali Congress won the election with 5399 votes. His nearest rival Kumar Yakha of the CPN-UML polled 4,828 votes. Congress has also won the ward chairmanship of wards 2, 3, 5 and 6.
Similarly, the alliance’s chief/deputy chief was elected in Chhatar Jorpati Rural Municipality. Chhatra Bahadur Subba, chairperson of the Nepali Congress, and Geeta Gurung of the UCPN (Maoist) have won the alliance.
Chhatra got 4,359 votes, while Sher Bahadur Limbu of the UML got 4,164 votes. Gurung of the UCPN (Maoist) got 4,387 votes, while Goma Karki Dahal of the UML got 3,691 votes. Both of these towns were known as UML strongholds.
