Chief Election Officer of Udaipur resigns; counting could not take place in Katari & Triyuga
He resigned from his position as Chief Electoral Officer due to health issues.
BIRATNAGAR: MAY. 15 – Udaipur’s Chief Election Officer has resigned.
He resigned from his position as Chief Electoral Officer due to health issues. Deepak Khanal was appointed Chief Electoral Officer of Udaipur by the Election Commission.
Although Khanal’s resignation was forwarded to the Election Commission, no decision has been made, according to Assistant Election Officer Dilip Magar.
Vote casts of Udayapur’s Triyuga Municipality and Katari Municipality have yet to be counted. When police opened fire on a group attempting to occupy a booth at the Kalika Higher Secondary School polling station in Katari Municipality-10, one person was killed and another was injured. The ballots have yet to arrive in Katari.
Similarly, voting was halted at the Triyuga Municipality-12 polling station after the candidate complained that the polling officer had acted improperly.
Vote counting is underway in six of Udayapur’s eight municipalities, according to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer.
