Nagarik Unmukti Party leading with double votes in Kailali’s Tikapur

DHANGADHI: MAY. 14 – The Nagarik Unmukti Party, led by Resham Chaudhary, has maintained a commanding lead in Kailali’s Tikapur Municipality.
Ram Lal Dangaura Tharu of the Nagarik Unmukti Party leads his nearest rival by twice as many votes.
Tharu got 588 votes, while UML candidate Shyam Khatri got 267 votes. Similarly, Nawaraj Rawal, the coalition party’s candidate, got 190 votes.
Similarly, Ulkadevi BK, a candidate for the post of deputy mayor, got 501 votes. KC, the deputy mayor from UML, got 190 votes and Khadak Shah, the deputy mayoral candidate from the UCPN (Maoist) got 213 votes.
The Nagarik Unmukti Party is a new party registered with the Election Commission under the chairmanship of Ranjita Shrestha, the wife of Chaudhary, a jailed MP involved in the Tikapur scandal.
