Election postponed in 79 polling centres so far: EC
Voting was postponed in 28 municipalities of 16 districts as of 10 pm on Saturday night, as per the information received by the Commission through Election Officers.
KATHMANDU: MAY. 14 – The number of polling centres where voting was halted owing to various reasons in the local level elections has reached 79 so far, according to the Election Commission (EC).
The local-level election was held across the country of May 13.
Voting was postponed in 28 municipalities of 16 districts as of 10 pm on Saturday night, as per the information received by the Commission through Election Officers.
Disputes and subsequent clashes led to the postponement of voting in districts such as Jumla, Saptari, Kavrepalanchowk, Rautahat, Ramechhap, Bara, Bajura and Parbat among others.
According to the Commission, the total number of postponements might differ since discussions were being held among the concerned parties on whether to count votes or conduct re-voting in the polling centres in such places.
Counting of votes has already begun in most of the local levels.
