UAE president Sheikh Khalifa passes away

KATHMANDU: MAY. 13 – Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), died on Friday, according to the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.

The ministry also confirmed that there will be 40 days of official mourning, with flags drawn at half-mast across the UAE, and that all UAE ministries at the federal and local levels, as well as those in the private sector, will be closed for three days beginning Friday.

The cause of death has yet to be determined.
