Candidates for mayor & deputy mayor of Pokhara cast their votes

POKHARA: MAY. 13 – Voting has begun at the local level in Pokhara. Dhanraj Acharya, the alliance’s mayoral candidate, has begun voting at Pokhara 33 Shanti Uday High School.

Similarly, UML candidate Krishna Thapa cast his first vote at Batulechaur’s Vindhyavasini Secondary School polling station in Pokhara-16. Ganesh Poudel, a candidate, has stated that he has already voted at the Rameshwari Higher Secondary School polling station in Majheripatan.

Meanwhile, UML deputy mayoral candidate Manju Devi Gurung has cast her vote at the Pokhara-8 Ram Basic School polling station. Kopila Ranabhat, a Congress candidate, cast her vote at the Bhawani Kalika Higher Secondary School polling station in Pokhara-26. Both the UML and the ruling coalition have candidates in Pokhara.

Candidates for the post include Krishna Thapa of the UML and Dhanraj Acharya of the UCPN (Maoist). Manju Gurung of the UML reiterated that Congress leader Kopila Ranabhat is a candidate for the alliance.

Man Bahadur GC of the UML defeated Congress candidate late in the previous election. Ramji Kuwar was defeated by approximately 14,000 votes, while Manju Devi Gurung defeated Congress candidate Saraswati Gurung by approximately 12,000 votes.

Since then, 39,000 new voters have been added. There were 168,000 voters in 2074 BS, but there are now 270,000.
