Local level elections: Voting today
There are 1,77,33,723 voters in the country.
KATHMANDU: MAY. 13 – Voting is taking place today under the local level election. The Election Commission has fixed the time for voting from 7 am to 5 pm.
Those who have completed 18 years of age and whose names are included in the voters’ roll will be able to cast their votes in the election.
Accordingly, there are 1,77,33,723 voters in the country. Of which 87 lakh 41 thousand 530 are women voters. There are 89.92 million male and 183 other voters. A total of 10,756 polling stations and 21,955 polling booths have been identified across the country.
From the election, 35 thousand 221 people’s representatives will be elected in 6 metropolitan cities, 11 sub-metropolitan cities, 276 municipalities and 460 rural municipalities and 6 thousand 743 wards. Out of which 355 office bearers have been elected unopposed.
Among them, 35 independent members including 6 ward chairpersons have been elected unopposed. Voting has been suspended in nine places at different local levels due to the death of a candidate. The re-election process has started there.
Counting of votes from today
The Election Commission has said that security arrangements have been made and urged the voters to cast their votes with confidence. Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Thapaliya has urged the voters to cast their votes with confidence.
The commission has informed that the counting of votes will start today. The counting of votes will start today in many places. The commission has also taken the policy of counting the votes by May 18. CCTV cameras have been installed in most of the polling stations.
