KATHMANDU: MAY. 12 – Across the country, preparations for local elections are in full swing. With only one day until the election, security personnel, polling officials, and other staff are actively working at the polling station.

Arjun Bhusal, Assistant Polling Officer, informed that preparations in Kathmandu Metropolitan Ward No. 12 are nearing completion. “We have made arrangements to hang the tripal for the security of the ballot box,” he said.

Voters get wet if it rains. The space is too small. If the weather is clear in the morning, we are making plans to allow for more votes to be cast.’

According to Gehnath Gautam, a polling officer at the same center, even though no special arrangements have been made for the disabled, such people will be given first priority to vote. There are 1971 voters in Ward No. 12 of Kathmandu.

“The local level has made no arrangements for the security of the voters,” said Bimal Bhattarai, another Ward No. 12 polling station official.

Voting will begin at 7 a.m. on Friday, May 13, and will end at 5 p.m. Voters arriving at the polling station after 5 p.m. will not be allowed to vote.
