Border deserted, closed for 72 hours
More than 4,000 Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have been mobilized in Banke for the local level election.
KATHMANDU: MAY. 12 – Jamunaha, on the Nepal-India border, is currently deserted. After the movement was halted, the Nepal-India border, which had been closed since midnight on Tuesday, was deserted.
Surya Bahadur Khatri, Chief District Officer of Banke, stated that the Nepal-India border has been closed for 72 hours due to the upcoming local level election in Nepal on Friday.
He stated that the Nepal-India border will reopen at 12 a.m. on May 13. He stated that the border with India would be closed in order to hold clean, fair, fearless, and peaceful local elections. The administration has stated that the checkpoints have been tightened due to the possibility of small arms being smuggled from India with the intent of causing harm.
More than 4,000 Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have been mobilized in Banke for the local level election.
Banke has 136 polling stations and 379 polling booths. According to Chief District Officer Khatri, security arrangements have been made in accordance with the security of 106 out of 136 polling stations in Banke that are highly sensitive, and 30 polling stations that are sensitive.
