Muslim Commission Chairperson arrested for distributing money

KATHMANDU: MAY. 12 – Police have arrested Samim Miya Ansari, chairperson of the Muslim Commission.

Ansari was arrested by Dhanusha police on a charge of distributing money during the election time from the Sita Sharan Hotel in Janakpurdham.

After Ansari was arrested, some youth chanted slogans on the hotel premises.

On Chaitra, 2075 BS (March/April 2019), he was appointed chairperson of the commission by then-Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The incident is being investigated further, according to police.
